Swiss-based food technology firm Bühler has unveiled new safety tools that uses blockchain technology to combat Salmonella and E. Coli. The Laatu platform and Tubex Pro application from Bühler are major innovations. The launch of these blockchain tools that protects international food supplies took place during the Hannover Messe industrial expo in Germany on April 1.
Reduction of 99.999% of Salmonella
Bühler’s first newly revealed safety too is the Laatu platform. Laatu is an innovative microbial reduction solution for dry foodstuffs. The invention differs from the conventional microbial reduction solutions as it exposes dry food stuffs to low-energy electrons. Laatu can reduce up to 99.999% of Salmonella and leaves negligible effects on the food components. This ensures that the quality and nutritional value of the food is kept constant.
Laatu significantly minimizes harmful microorganisms like Salmonella, E. Coli, and spores in milliseconds. It operates as a real-time tracking system that retains processing information, date, time, and product batches. The tool connects to a distributed ledger system to achieve an accurate and safe audit trail. Additionally, Laatu can be utilized at any point of the processing line. Overall, it also offers a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution.
Enhancing the Production Process
Secondly, Bühler released the Tubex Pro application for assisting the food supply chain. Tubex Pro is a smart process scale solution that heightens its own computational algorithm in line with product flow aspects and the plant environment. It enables safe food production backed with transparency and trace-ability along the food supply chain. Likewise, it offers a real-time stream of production data using Bühler designed systems. Furthermore, the information improves the output and performance of the food plant.
Blockchain Innovates Safety Procedures
Bühler’s deployment of these innovations will herald new advancements in food safety measures that will have an immediate impact on the general public. Likewise, these measures will influence developing countries. In time, this will move the world closer towards global cooperation in the protection of our food supply.
